Rebekah Bodily, an Idaho State University student, received a $1,500 “Autism Awareness Scholarship” check from Tim Stronks, Vice President of Personal Lines Insurance for Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Idaho, during a May 9 ceremony at ISU’s College of Education.

Farm Bureau Insurance employees in Pocatello raised $920 of the amount by purchasing special “Autism Awareness” pins that they wore during the Autism Society’s National Autism Awareness Month in April. Employees at Farmers Insurance in Pocatello raised the remaining $580 in April by selling cookies, flip flops, and other items. Stronks said the two companies decided to pool their money because “helping a deserving student in the special education program is a great way to help kids with autism and other special needs be successful.”
Stronks added that the scholarship will be awarded annually to an Idaho State University College of Education student with an emphasis in special education. Bodily, an elementary education major with an emphasis in special education, is from Preston, Idaho. She hopes to teach in a special education classroom when she graduates.
