Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho Finalizes Acquisition of Mountain West, Creating a Stronger Regional Insurance Organization

Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho is pleased to announce that it has received all required regulatory approvals and finalized its acquisition of Mountain West Farm Bureau Insurance Company. The acquisition significantly expands the company’s regional presence and strengthens its ability to protect and serve members and policyholders across Idaho, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado.

With the regulatory process complete, Mountain West and its affiliates, 360 Insurance Company and Mountain West Captive Re Company, join Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho and its affiliates, Western Community Insurance Company, Farm Insurance Brokerage Company, and Farm Bureau Finance Company.
Together, the affiliated companies serve more than 130,000 members, generate over $800 million in annualized premium, and hold $1.2 billion in assets. The organization’s increased scale and broader geographic risk profile will help support long-term financial strength and stability in an evolving insurance marketplace.

“This is a defining moment for our organizations and the people we serve,” said Todd Argall, President and CEO of Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho. “With regulatory approval complete, we are now positioned to move forward as a stronger, more resilient organization. By combining our shared strengths and values, we are ensuring that we can continue to deliver on our promises to the communities we serve for decades to come.”

The acquisition is intended to enhance financial strength and operational capabilities while preserving the local, personalized service that has defined both organizations for generations. Collectively, the companies bring more than 155 years of experience serving policyholders throughout the region.
Mountain West will continue operating under its existing brands in Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado. Policyholders will continue working with their trusted local agents, now supported by the resources and capabilities of the broader organization.

“Insurance is ultimately about being there when policyholders need us most,” said Matt Dorsey, Chairman of the Board, IFB Mutual Insurance Holding Company. “This acquisition gives our companies and local agents greater resources to provide dependable coverage, responsive service, and support tailored to the communities they know and serve.” The Laramie, Wyoming, office will remain a key operational hub, working alongside teams throughout the organization’s regional footprint to support agents and policyholders. The companies remain deeply committed to the communities they serve, with a continued focus on providing reliable coverage, personalized service, and long-term value.
