NASA Astronaut And Navy SEAL Captain Chris Cassidy To Speak At Farm Bureau’s 13th Annual Salute To Idaho Veterans Event

Captain Chris Cassidy, a highly decorated U.S. Navy SEAL and NASA astronaut, will speak at the 13th Annual Farm Bureau Salute to Idaho Veterans event on Friday, November 7.

A veteran of four military deployments and three space missions, Cassidy served 28 years in the U.S. Navy, including two combat tours in Afghanistan and leadership roles within the Navy SEALs. He was awarded two Bronze Stars—one with the combat “V”—and the Presidential Unit Citation for valor. Selected as a NASA astronaut in 2004, Cassidy logged 378 days in space, completed 10 spacewalks, and later served as NASA’s Chief Astronaut. He now leads the National Medal of Honor Museum as its president and CEO.

Cassidy’s story is one of courage, perseverance, and service both on Earth and beyond. From leading Navy SEAL operations to commanding the International Space Station, his career reflects an extraordinary commitment to country and mission.

Veterans, active-duty service members, and their families are invited to attend this free event. In addition to Cassidy’s keynote address, the Salute to Idaho Veterans includes a traditional flag ceremony, a musical tribute with branch hymns performed by the Idaho Falls Brass Quintet, a complimentary luncheon, veteran slideshow, free professional photo portraits, and the presentation of a commemorative challenge coin to all veterans and Armed Services personnel in attendance.

Now in its 13th year, the Salute continues Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho’s tradition of honoring the service and sacrifice of Idaho’s veterans. “We are humbled and honored to welcome Captain Cassidy to this year’s Salute,” said Todd Argall, CEO of Farm Bureau Insurance. “His leadership and service are an inspiration, and we hope this event is a meaningful expression of our appreciation for the brave men and women who have served our country.”

The Salute will be held at Farm Bureau’s Pocatello campus, located at 275 Tierra Vista Drive. The program begins at 10:30 AM with a meet and greet and concludes at 1:00 PM with photo portraits by professional photographer Deloy Stuart.
